The Okuma car has some unfinished business, as it last saw the track in the final round of Sonoma. As much as we focus on ourselves and our own program, this is the time of the season where you find yourself checking the pulse of the class in ways you weren’t necessarily before. Internally rooting for or against someone based on what is best for your team’s situation. I truly believe qualifying points will play an even larger part of the Countdown, with us having an extra race this year. We’re feeling good about heading into Charlotte in fifth, but know there is no room for error. We are focusing on keeping it simple - getting down the track every single time, and I have to leave first. If we can do that on a clean eight (cylinders) with traction, it’ll be a fast pass. Those two simple things equate to success on Sunday.
